Starforce problem with patch 1.0.1 - SpellForce

Just got the game today and it looks like it is one of the original versions first release back in 2006, the dvd says 12/04/2006 on the back. The version is stated as ver spellforce2 1.0 build #107306. I was looking for updated patches as I am sure there are starting from 1.0.1 which I think is needed before other patches. There were three options. A dvd -starforce// starforce pro and taga for spanish. I did dvd -starforce download as I have a retail version disc which states made in the EU.

I could get into the game just fine without the patches and without any delay in disc checking originally or any sign of startforce. (this is a true copy with manual and requires the dvd.)

After installing the patch starforce appeared and could not find the key on the disc and requested a key (not the key that came in the box as this doesn't work)

I uninstalled everything and killed starforce and the game works from the dvd again but in its original 1.0 version.

Question: Did I download the wrong patch or is there something that has gone wrong here or is there another copy protect on the dvd? I like the latest patches but am definitely concerned about starforce not reading the original disc and asking for a another code. Any suggestions here. Have I missed somthing about this patch being a dud as I can't seem to find anything on the forums about it. Thanks

Well, there is a news item regarding patch info right at the top of the boards. Also, we have a tech support forum where such info can be found. I've now moved your post there.

Hey! thanks for the advice.. I could not detect the copy protect and according to patch v1.02 I had "tage" protection not "starforce" disc. The site said that "tage" version was for spanish version hence the reason I downloaded the EU one, This is an hence the confusion.

Originally that was true but it's possible that a later release changed things. I don't know that it did but it would explain the confusion in your case. Still, all's well that ends well
