id go with anime thats honestly the most original work , heart of the forest could be anything if completely unrelated to spellforce honestly and the trilogy s been assembled together from the games own artwork so it shouldnt qualify imo. Anime is great tho . 5 stars

My initial reaction was very much the same as Xerkics but after thinking about it I formed the opinion that because it was entitled "Heart of the Forest" that was indeed the best of the three. It is IMO the only original piece of artwork since Anime is very common and to be honest, while it is very good, SF doesn't really have anything to do with Anime. The Heart of the Forest also appeals to me aesthetically as a very nice piece of art.

i think it is difficult to really comment on any of them without knowing the authors. for heart of the forest, it could be a really abstract interpretation borne of spellforce, or just an abstract piece of wallpaper that spellforce played no part in the conception of. likewise with the anime, it could be an interesting interpretation of spellforce, or just a hobby for the artist where they convert everything into an anime style. was the trilogy an individual piece of work, or a cut-and-paste job with photoshop?

either way, i actually like them all, and they are all better than anything i could manage. i made my choice based on which appealed to me the most.

to me heart of the forest was creepy...
trilogy was boring...
and anime was amazing

my vote is obviously anime

Since the Contest was referred directly to SpellForce, all the participants of the contest have a full right to use materials from the game. No matter, have you used graphics from the game, or not, the essence is that insofar well & beautiful you have done it! I made wallpaper, and 85% of wallpapers are beeing made this way. Finally, this is directly on the SpellForce subject instead of the anime, which has neither direct, nor indirect attitude to SpellForce.

It's immediately seen that you're the same zero as in Photoshop, so and in SF. I'll repeat for you again, that I've used some screenshots, but not more. And ONLY two this screenshots with the Principal and the black magician I've been trying to make nearly 5 days (Have you ever tried to find such forshortening and in time make a screenshot in SpellForce? No? Try to do it. Very fascinating, easy & quick work...). And at last, if you can't even distinguish individual work from 'cut-and-paste', what can you speak about HERE, on the Fan Art Contest?!

heh fair point Goth.
It brings my memory back to the row over so called "synthesizer" musicians when those musicians who took years etc to perfect their skil claimed that those playing on SZ didnt have the right to be called the musicans since the instrument essentially did everything for them or the dj's who just take somebody elses work and a few scratches here and there and call it original pieces of work without having any musical education etc etc.

AS long as it wasnt specified that all the work has to be original artwork i suppose its fair enough to create a wallpaper which is by no means easy if well done as in Goth's case. So i do apologise i thought all the artwork had to be your own :-p .

P.S : btw its interesting what the other language users voted i assume they had a vote of their own?

Comments on the artwork are an expression of personal taste rather than the quality of the artists. Therefore I wouldn't take anything personally. We're definately all gamers here so it's likely we're going to relate what we see with it's relevance to SF but it's doubtful if even a couple of us are art experts.

Here are the rules of the Contest, if you forgot them:
"You’re into drawing, painting or digitally creating fantasy art? Perfect! We are looking for the most gifted and creative minds in the SpellForce community!
Enter our first official SpellForce fan art contest by drawing, painting or rendering some great masterpiece related to the fascinating scenario of SpellForce..."
As you see, there were no restrictions of using screenshots & SF graphics.
If my work was chosen by the Jury, so I suspect, they were professionals and could distinguish screenshots from a real image and an individual work from 'cut-and-paste'.
Do you think, its so easy to create an art composition like mine? Cut and paste, you say?! OK, GO ON, TRY TO DO IT.

i think you missed the point of my post Goth. i said that unless we know the authors, we wont know how much work they put into the project or how individual their work is. i wasnt trying to imply that you spent 5 mins cutting and pasting into photoshop, because i know just how long photoediting takes. what i was trying to point out is that we shouldnt be sceptical, and we should just vote the the piece we like most.

Yeah but there was a poll as well on the german forum and there the Anime picture won and the SpellForce Triology picture was many points behind.

I think this thread is ready no for a close because the contest is over.
