Post Before Buying the game

I played your demo through your tutorial and campaign(beat rift valley but took me 2 tries without save<nice super hard mission>.

I was wondering if the full version game had a gamma controller bar in video options and some other stuff I noticed missing that usually an rts/rpg game usually has but didn't in the demo.

Can I get a list of the full version stuff that isn't on the demo.Like Unit damage and armor rating , armor rating for structures , Tower damage , spell damage etc...

Before I waste $50. buying a game that isn't or is up to par with other rts/rpg standards.

Nice graphics by the way.just as good as the new"Lords of Everquest" rts game that is out and the paperdoll menu for your heros with weapon, armor, heros etc. I like that alot better then warcraft3-exp frozen thrones heros.

Thx

Can I please get a reply on the difference from the demo compared to the full version, where stuff like a Gamma Controller Slider Bar in Video Options,Save/quick save/quick load , Unit damage/building defence etc. . .

I think the game looks promising to play and look forward to playing it but for people in the US they have to wait 2/10/04, thats if they order it or buy it off ebay and I would like to get an answer on these tid bits before I purchase this particular software.

I ll try to answer as much as I can.

as far as I now there is no gamma slide bar, at least I havent seen one yet.
the damage/hp of untis is unknown, but you can turn on an option which will put the damage done above the targets head, thats enough in my opinion.

It is just like the demo. Sill runs Jerky on my 2600+ AMD 1gig of ram GeForce FX5200 with medium settings and 16-bit textures. Ok so my graphics card isn't the best but It runs Starwars galaxies, Max Payne 2, RToEE all faster than this and a host of new games fine and they all look better than this game. But its fun and only cost me a tenner so its cool. I'd wait till it hits bargain bins over there. $50 is a bit steap for a game with a performance hit that might make it unplayable on a lot of systems.

Where is it £10? I heard from someone that play.com did it £10 but when I checked it was £18. Amazon is worse because that's about £23. I have also checked at game.uk.com and it was about £20 there too.

yes, most full version games in the US are $50. . . actually warcraft when it first came out was $60. but that came with an action figure. Expansions are usually $30.

Hope it does come with a gamma slider since most moniters have different rez per pixel resalution.

Play.com just put thier prices up its were i got my copy from and that was £9.99 delivered though checking today I see they are now charging £17.99. Cant blame them its only a month or 2 old, got rave reviews and flew to the top of thier chart as soon as it droped to £9.99. Pitty though its a good game I'm really warming to it after an hours play. Still easily worth £18

price

Yer I know. I think one of the main reasons for all these internet mail order compainies puting there prices up so rapidly is that one of them, I think it was CDwow, got sued because of them selling cheap imports. Well that's how I've heard it anyway.

I think I'll get it, though I have about 3 games currently which I've hardly even taken out of there boxes. Oh well. I don't need to play them before I get another game I guess.

Ok, I looked at different sites containing different games and different prices for the games and I've come to the conclution. . .

I don't get it!Does anyone else think this is way off base or hella un cool?

Example:

Amazon.uk.com selling it for 22.49 in EUR / 28.60 USD
Amazon.us.com selling it for 49.99 in USD / 39.31 EUR
------
http://search.msn.com/pass/results.a...ulator&cp=1252
------

You think thats cool or what!

That's quite a range in prices. I paid $39.90 to GoGamer. Considering the game isn't even out here in the US yet I figure it's not a bad deal. $5 shipping covered both games on that order for FedEx 2-day.

Not sure it was ever less than £17.99 - I bought it from Play.com back in November and it was the same price then.

To the original poster: it's not really fair to compare this game with other RTS games, since the RTS is only one element of this game. A major part of Spellforce is the roleplaying - you develop your character (and your heroes) throughout the story, rather than just playing a bunch of missions. You have side-quests and items and treasures and all that kind of stuff that you don't normally get in RTS. The RTS is nowhere near as advanced as (say) Warcraft, but that's the idea - you build camps and armies in order to advance in the story.

There is no gamma slider (or adjustment of brightness etc) but I can't say i've ever needed it. The brightness looks exactly right on my LCD... if it looks wrong on your monitor, can't you change the settings on that?

And it does require a very powerful PC to run smoothly with all the details turned on (shadows, environment mapping, etc all need a high-end video card). The solution is to turn these off if you have a slower PC (in particular, a slow graphics card like an FX5200 or Radeon 9200, or an early card like a Geforce2).
